As the governing body of four wheel motor sport for the United Kingdom, the Motor Sports Association remains absolutely committed to the oldest motor sport event in the UK (and possibly the world) that is known as the Brighton Speed Trials.
On behalf of the MSA, I would urge the council not to throw away history, but instead to look for inspiration to their forefathers on the Town Council who were among the pioneering innovators more than 100 years ago in the creation of the first National Speed Trials.
As the National governing body, the MSA is ready to bring all of its political pressure to bear to ensure that the Brighton Speed Trials return better than ever in 2014.
Alan J Gow, Chairman, Motor Sports Association
In our opinion this is a traditional event that has been on the Brighton Seafront for decades. It seems rather sad that the Council has not taken into account the massive pull of money and publicity generated for the Council and all concerned.
It's an event that the public want to keep, as it is iconic and set in stone as one of the great events of the year.
